The best way to protect yourself from the seasonal flu and potential complications is to get the flu shot every year. The flu shot can prevent you from getting sick in the first place, but it can also reduce the severity of illness in people who do still get sick. Visit https://www.vaccines.gov/ to find a vaccine location near you. You may need to check with the location to ensure they have vaccine available. Through the Vaccines for Adults (VFA) program, the influenza vaccine is available to uninsured and underinsured adults 19 years of age and older. We are excited to announce the release of the 2023 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) for the Scott County and Rock Island County Health Departments! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting the implementation of the 2019 CHIP, community partners decided to transition several strategies and activities to this CHIP for all priority areas: mental health, nutrition, physical activity, and weight, and access to healthcare. This plan will help guide the collaborative efforts taking place over the next three years to improve the health of our community. TestIowa kits cannot be dropped off at Scott County Health Department, they must be taken to a UPS drop off location. External Link
Beginning Friday, June 24, 2022, TestIowa kits can no longer be dropped off at Scott County Health Department to be transported to the State Hygienic Lab for analysis. Individuals can still pick up kits from the Health Department, but must return them at a UPS drop-off location.
