Public Swimming Pools & Spas

Public Swimming Pool Permit and Enforcement Program

What types of services are offered through the Scott County Health Department Public Swimming Pool Permit and Enforcement Program?

The Health Department:

  • regulates the operation, and maintenance of all public swimming pools, spas, and related facilities.
  • conducts annual comprehensive inspections.
  • investigates complaints from the public.

Is there a fee for the service/program?

There is no cost for information about swimming pools and spas or to file a complaint. For information on inspection and permit fees contact the Health Department.

What kind forms and logs must I maintain for pool and spa operations?

Scott County Health Department has created a series of example forms and logs that may be used to meet Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines for recording pool and spa operations.

These forms may be used by pool and spa operators to organize necessary records.

Note: All pool and spa operators have to keep appropriate records. However, specific forms used to keep these records are not provided in Iowa Code. Scott County Health Department made these forms as an example. Use of these forms is optional.

Where can I find the rules about swimming pools and spas?:
