Yearly inspections of tattoo facilities are made to assure all equipment is in compliance with Iowa and federal law, conditions are sanitary with sterile equipment, records are properly kept and staff are knowledgeable about proper use of equipment.
The yearly assessment and inspection fee for the tattoo establishment is $250.00.
Operators must obtain a permit for their tattoo facility from the Iowa HHS.
