Can I build a house on this parcel?
First, zoning of the parcel must be determined (which is done through the Planning and Development office through the use of the Official County Zoning Map).
If the parcel is zoned:
- Single Family Residential (R-1), it has a development right for one house.
- Agricultural Preservation (A-P) or Agricultural General (A-G), then single family homes can only locate on platted lots in existing subdivisions and auditor’s plats, or on existing parcels of less than 15 acres which have been recorded in the Scott County Recorder’s Office as of April 2, 1981.
Please contact the Planning and Development office for an official zoning designation, and to determine if the parcel is a buildable lot.
