**Update** Names Released - The Ford Explorer in the accident from September 11th, 2016 in LeClaire, IA was driven by Darryl Wilson, 52 year old male from Silvis, IL.
The two persons killed on the motorcycles are; William Bruce Griffith, 57 year old male of Davenport, Iowa and Ronald Gene Fox, 59 year old male from Blue Grass, IA.
This accident remains under investigation.
**Original Report** - On September 11th, 2016 at approximately 10:22 P.M., a call was received by the Scott Emergency Communications Center of a vehicle on fire which was then reported it was an accident with a vehicle on fire. The accident was in the 3100 block of South Cody Road in LeClaire Iowa. This road is also known as Highway 67.
This section of road is a 4 lane unlit road located in the western part of the city of LeClaire with a speed limit of 45 MPH. This section of road runs east and west but is also known as north and south due to highway 67 running north and south.
The Scott County Accident Investigation Team was requested by the LeClaire PD to assist with the accident.
On scene investigation indicated a red Ford Explorer was traveling east (north) on Cody Road, Highway 67, when it crossed the center double yellow line into the path of the west (south) bound traffic. As the Explore crossed the center line it struck a motorcycle head on and the motorcycle became lodged onto the front of the Explorer. As the Explorer continued forward it struck another motorcycle which was traveling behind the first motorcycle. The second motorcycle then struck a third motorcycle which was following the first two. At some point the Explorer and the first motorcycle became engulfed in flames.
The first two motorcycle drivers were killed instantly and the driver of the Explorer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the third motorcycle was treated and released on scene.
The motorcycles were traveling in the west (south) bound left lane closest to the center line in a single file spaced out from one another.
The motorcycle drivers were not wearing helmets.
Assisting Agencies were the LeClaire Fire Department, Medic Ambulance service, Med-Force, LeClaire Police Department, Scott County Sheriff's Office Reserves, and the Scott County Mobile Command Center.
This accident remains under investigation with pending charges and family notifications.
