Assistance Available for Flash Flood Victims
On June 20, 2018 Scott County was impacted by flash flooding caused by torrential rains. Those rains overwhelmed drainage and pushed local creeks out of their banks. Water flooded streets and homes in many locations. Similar types of damage occurred in several locations throughout Iowa.
The next day, Scott County Emergency Management Agency requested that Iowa Governor, Kim Reynolds include Scott County in a state disaster declaration. That declaration makes the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant program along with case management services available to impacted Scott County residents. Those services are administered in Scott County by Community Action of Eastern Iowa.
