MEDIC crew saves a patient in cardiac arrest

On August 4th, 2024, Mark was having a medical emergency and called 911 in his home.

The Bettendorf Fire Department and MEDIC EMS of Scott County arrived just in time. Mark’s heart stopped beating in front of the providers. MEDIC and BFRD successfully resuscitated Mark and were able to start his heart back up, but he was still in critical condition.

MEDIC transported Mark to a local hospital, where doctors and nurses were able to place a defibrillator and a pacemaker. Mark was discharged from the hospital a few weeks later.

Mark stopped by MEDIC HQ on November 14th, 2024, to thank the providers for saving his life that day. The responding crew did a fantastic job. Mark is thankful for a second chance at life and will enjoy this upcoming Holiday season with his family.
